To help you work out what each class level is working on, please see a summary of each level’s skills below.
The swim program is divided into age groups, and then within each age-group there are different skill ability levels. You can join a class that is suited to your age and ability. To pass a level you need to be performing the skills well and consistently.
Once you know what level you are, you can look up the class availability for that level and progress from there. Skill assessments are done every 4-6 weeks, but teachers can recommend that students move levels at any time.
As part of the Victorian education syllabus, all children are expected to complete a minimum of Level 4 (the last yellow level in the diagram) by the time they finish primary school. When children achieve the requirements of this level they are awarded with the ‘Victorian Premier’s Water Safety Certificate’. We are accredited to award children with this certificate!
