Each year, Healthways Community Initiatives provides a limited number of scholarships for 12yr-Adults to learn to swim from one side of a pool to the other.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Swimming isn’t just a fun activity – it’s an essential life skill that could one day save your life. But what happens when you didn’t get the chance to learn as a child?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Research by the Royal Life Saving Society reveals that despite Australia’s prominent water culture, a quarter of Australian adults consider themselves either weak swimmers or entirely non-swimmers. If this sounds familiar, you’re far from alone – and we can help you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through our Healthways Community Initiatives program, we offer scholarships to give young people and adults a 2nd chance to learn to swim.  Apply for a 2nd Lap Scholarship below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    You’re not alone, and we can help.  Group or Private lessons are available year-round.  In addition, you may be eligible for a 2nd Lap Scholarship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Who’s eligible for a 2nd lap scholarship?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Anyone 12yrs-Adult who can\u2019t swim confidently from one side of a pool to the other.  (In swimming level ability terms, for Under 16s this is anyone who is Level 2 High or below, for Over 16s and Adults this is anyone who is Adult Level 2 or below.  When you apply, you’ll fill in some quick questions about your swimming ability to check if you’re eligible.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    What does the scholarship cover?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Through our Healthways Community Initiatives program, we help cover the cost of your lessons as you work towards swimming from one side of the pool to the other independently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      • Private lessons can be taken alongside your group classes if you’d like to accelerate your progress. Many swimmers find that combining personalised lessons with group classes helps build skills faster and gives them extra confidence in the water.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Group classes only<\/strong>\n
          \n
        • Group classes are a great way to learn alongside other swimmers in a relaxed, supportive environment. With a maximum of 6 students per teacher, you’ll still get plenty of individual attention while building confidence at your own pace.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Private lessons only<\/strong>\n
            \n
          • Private lessons offer focused, personalised attention from your teacher, with lessons tailored entirely around your pace and comfort in the water. It’s a great option if you’d prefer a more individual approach to reaching your milestone.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
